SO impressed with your focus on "what are we FOR"...working to stem the tide of what Trump is doing but not giving him the press on that but at same time focusing on proposals and solutions that work for everyone. Thank you!!!
Yes -- this is great. But please know that Auchincloss is struggling right now to hold onto support from his very blue base back in Massachusetts. A town hall he held in Newton was rowdy and frustrated, and he shut down all our voices. It was very frustrating. He's a great congressman but he's struggling to hold onto his empathy for frustrated constituents right now.
What was the nature of the frustration? Very curious. And curious about what you'd love to see him do more, to meet that frustration and make constituents felt seen & heard.
What we are FOR is a good initiative, but we who oppose the main thrust of Trump's actions also need to acknowledge those things he is doing which seem, at least in part, to be focused on doing the right thing. Things like stopping the flood of people coming across the border, deporting those here illegally who've committed crimes, etc., and even perhaps plans to "clean up" D.C. It's OK to agree with some things he's done at the same time we articulate a better, more palatable approach. Like the need for immigration reform that limits illegal entry (and puts a stop to the 'stop and release' approach) that establishes a mechanism for people entering the country to fill jobs where there is a need, etc.
